Reflex Test play guide
Introduction
Reflex Test combines reacting to a colour change, tapping targets in changing positions and recalling briefly displayed numbers. The full test converts all three results into a combined game score. Practice lets you examine one task at a time. Milliseconds describe the time measured in this browser between the displayed change and your input. Read the score and grade as feedback on your play in comparable conditions rather than as a judgement of your overall ability.
Goal and rules
React only after the green signal, tap targets accurately and reproduce the displayed digits in their original order. Improving reaction time alone does not guarantee a higher total. Look at missed targets and your number-memory record as well, then choose a specific behaviour to practise on the next attempt.
Desktop and mobile controls
- PC: Click the reaction area and targets with the mouse. During number entry, click the on-screen number pad or use keyboard digits. Backspace removes the last digit and Enter confirms the answer. Full test and individual practice have separate buttons on the start screen.
- Mobile: Tap the reaction area and targets, then enter remembered digits on the on-screen pad. Position your finger so it does not cover the signal. For aiming, move to the target and tap its centre. Use ⌫ to correct a digit and the confirmation button to submit.
Scoring and records
Reaction time is the rounded mean of five valid attempts. Reaction points are round((520−mean milliseconds)×3.5), limited to 0–1,200. Aim time is the rounded result of (elapsed time for 15 hits + misses×120 milliseconds)÷15. Aim points are round(1,400−that result), limited to 0–1,200. Memory points equal the recorded digit length×100, capped at 1,500. The total maximum is 3,900. Grades are S from 3,100, A from 2,600, B from 2,100 and C from 1,600; lower totals receive D.
Ending and restarting
After five reactions and 15 target hits, the full test proceeds to memory. Numbers start at three digits and gain one digit after each correct answer. One wrong answer ends the task with a record one digit shorter than the failed question; completing 16 digits also ends it. Failing the first three-digit question therefore displays two digits. A completed full test shows the combined result and attempts registration when the server is connected. Individual practice shows its task result and this device's best record without entering the combined leaderboard.
Tips for beginners
- Wait for the signal rather than predicting it
The reaction delay changes on each attempt. Tapping before green produces a too-soon message and does not count towards the five valid reactions. Focus on detecting the change instead of memorising a rhythm.
- Read aim speed and accuracy together
A miss adds 120 milliseconds as well as the real time already spent. Find the new target and hit it once instead of clicking repeatedly without checking its position. Read accuracy beside the time to see whether a faster attempt involved more mistakes.
- Remember numbers in smaller groups
Split longer sequences into groups that work for you, such as a beginning and an ending. Before confirming, inspect the digit count and order. Use ⌫ to work backwards through an incorrect final entry.
- Keep comparison conditions consistent
Compare several results on the same device, input method, browser and screen setup. Switching between mouse and touch or moving to another tab changes the conditions. Aim returns to its ready state after a pause, so do not treat it as one uninterrupted measurement.
Advanced strategy
Read the three components separately instead of relying only on the total. Smaller reaction and aim times produce more points, while a longer recorded memory sequence produces more points. The components have caps: both 15 and 16 recorded digits award 1,500 memory points. The on-screen 'about top %' is a game estimate rather than a ranking calculated from all actual players. Keep that estimate separate from the weekly and all-time leaderboard positions and your individual task records.
Frequently asked questions
Is reaction average my single fastest attempt?
No. It adds all five valid times after the green signal, divides by five and rounds. One especially quick input cannot describe the whole average.
How do misses affect aim time?
Each miss adds 120 milliseconds to total elapsed time before division by 15. With elapsed time unchanged, one miss adds 8 milliseconds to the unrounded per-target result.
Why did practice not add a combined leaderboard entry?
Individual practice does not submit a combined score. Choose Full test, finish all three tasks and check the registration status on the result screen.
