Reading Reflex Test records and the combined score

Understand the five-valid-attempt reaction mean, aim timing and miss penalties, memory records and score conversion through a worked example and consistent comparison conditions.

Hide in Game editorial · 2 October 2026

Read the three components before the total

A full-test result shows reaction milliseconds, aim milliseconds and accuracy, and a recorded memory length. These describe different tasks and use different units. Smaller reaction and aim times convert to more points; a longer memory record converts to more points. The combined grade is the game's sum of those components, not a diagnosis of someone's overall ability.

Task records, weekly or all-time positions and the estimated top percentage are separate displays. The leaderboard orders registered scores; the top-percentage label comes from an estimate built into the game. Do not interpret it as a measured average of all users or an objective population percentile. For your own comparisons, first record which component changed and by how much.

Reaction mean includes all five valid attempts

The reaction task stores five times after the green signal, adds them, divides by five and rounds. Times of 240, 260, 280, 300 and 320 milliseconds total 1,400 and produce a displayed mean of 280. The fastest 240-millisecond attempt does not represent the result alone. A slower attempt still contributes even if the other four are quick.

Tapping before green produces a too-soon message and another attempt. It is not included among the five valid reactions. Focus on responding after the signal rather than predicting the changing delay. A mean of 280 converts to (520−280)×3.5=840 reaction points. The rounded result is limited to 0–1,200, so a timing change need not alter points when a score is already at a limit.

Aim combines elapsed time with miss penalties

Aim measures elapsed time until 15 targets are hit, adds 120 milliseconds per miss, then divides by 15 and rounds. With 6,000 elapsed milliseconds and two misses, (6,000+240)÷15 gives 416 milliseconds per target. That converts to 1,400−416=984 aim points, within a 0–1,200 limit. At the same elapsed time, eliminating one miss reduces the unrounded per-target result by 8 milliseconds.

Accuracy is round(15÷(15+misses)×100). The two-miss example displays 88%. If quicker clicking produced fewer points, inspect misses as well. Fewer misses may also be offset by longer real movement time. Compare how you locate the next target and hit it once instead of adopting a rule of always clicking slowly or always clicking as fast as possible.

Understand the memory record and its point cap

Numbers start at three digits and gain one after each correct answer. Display time also grows with sequence length, so short and long questions do not use identical viewing durations. A wrong answer records one digit less than the failed question length. Failing the initial three-digit question still displays two digits, so it is inaccurate to describe every record as a length actually completed successfully. Completing 16 digits ends the task.

Memory points equal the recorded length times 100, stopping at 1,500. Six digits give 600 points; both 15 and 16 give 1,500. Read the combined-score cap separately from a longer individual record. During practice, inspect whether a mistake involved grouping, a missing digit or changed order. A specific cause gives the next attempt a clearer purpose.

Finish the same example to check score and grade

Combine the example above: a 280-millisecond reaction mean gives 840, 416-millisecond aim gives 984, and six recorded digits give 600. The total is 2,424. B begins at 2,100 and A at 2,600, so this example receives B. The thresholds are S at 3,100, A at 2,600, B at 2,100 and C at 1,600; lower totals receive D. The maximum combined score is 3,900.

The same total can come from different component records. A better reaction result and a shorter memory record can cancel each other, hiding a difference if you inspect only the grade. Record reaction mean, aim time and misses, and memory length beside the total. Individual practice does not submit a combined leaderboard score; use a completed Full test result when checking registration.

Match the conditions and distinguish interrupted attempts

Try to keep the device, input method, browser and screen size consistent. A mouse result and finger input on a small screen use different controls. Display and input processing conditions are included in the time measured by the game, so a change between devices cannot be attributed entirely to the player. Look for repeated trends across several completed attempts instead of emphasising only one best record.

Distinguish an attempt interrupted by a menu or another tab from an uninterrupted one. Aim returns to its ready state after a pause here. Reaction may rearm its signal wait when resumed, so read the prompt before continuing. Note practice versus full test, input method and interruptions alongside the result to make later comparisons clearer. This is a way to understand game play, not a health or medical assessment.
